Tracy Hines Update

October 23rd, 2007

From TonyStewartRacing.com

Hey everyone! This update is coming sooner rather than later but we had some changes take place last week. On Wed., Oct. 17, Tracy had his two week check-up with Dr. Baele at Ortho Indy. To our surprise, he wanted to schedule another surgery as soon as possible. Tracy had been experiencing some swelling and his movement was still pretty limited a week after his October 1st surgery.

There are no concerns as far as his knee but Dr. Baele wanted to try a new approach. He had determined that another manipulation surgery was needed and he decided to perform it as soon as possible. On Fri., Oct. 19, Tracy underwent an outpatient manipulation and everything went fairly well.

Dr. Baele is still very pleased with the ligament improvement within the knee and he was able to bend it to 135 degrees during the procedure. The only concern that both St. Vincent Sports Performance and Dr. Baele have is the swelling and fluid retention. The swelling isn’t allowing the knee to bend to its full potential. In order to allow the swelling to go down, Tracy has been placed on temporary bed rest. He is to keep his knee elevated and continue to work it on the CPM machine.

Tracy is still stretching and working his knee daily, he’s just trying to stay off of it. He tried to climb into the car last week and had some difficulties in doing so. Staying in bed might drive him nuts but he will do whatever it takes to get back into the car. He hasn’t been out of bed since the surgery and I can already see big changes in his exercise progress at home. We think St. Vincent Sports Performance is up for a surprise this week when Tracy resumes therapy today!

Thank you for all of your continued support and prayers! We’re looking forward to seeing all of you soon!
