While Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman may both be out of the running for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship, team owner Tony Stewart hit the trifecta on Saturday night picking up championships in 3 national series’.
Donny Schatz won his 4th consecutive World of Outlaws Sprint Car Championship Saturday night with an 8th place finish in the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Teammate Kraig Kinser needed a provisional to get in the A Main and after starting in 26th, he finished 19th.
Tony Stewart Racing sponsored Josh Richards finished 7th in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series World Final to win the 2009 Championship over Steve Francis. Richards came into the race with a 4 point lead and finished 5 positions ahead of Francis.
SPEED-TV, which broadcast the races, reported that WoO Sprint car driver Jessica Zemken will be getting support from Tony Stewart Racing next year. Zemken ran 20th in the World Finals.
On the USAC side of Tony Stewart Racing, the teams took part in the final night of the Budweiser Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California. Starting in 5th place, Levi Jones raced to a 3rd place finish, which was good enough to clinch the USAC National Sprint series championship with one weekend of racing remaining. Traci Hines started 14th in the A Main but flipped on lap 9 and finished in 22nd position.
