Tony Stewart Picked as Grand Marshall of the 2009 Fiesta Bowl

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Tony Stewart has been named to serve as Grand Marshal for teh Fiesta Bowl parade January 3rd in Phoenix it was announced today.

In addition to being the grand marshall, Tony will take part in the coin toss before the Fiesta Bowl on January 5.

Despite living in Columbus, Indiana, Phoenix is like a second home for Tony.  “This was the place that was kind of the turning point in my career, as far as deciding I was going to quit working at a machine shop in the winter,” Stewart said. “We came out here, and I ran second to Mike Bliss in the Silver Crown series at the Copper World Classic.”

Tony is the first NASCAR driver to serve as grand marshall for the bowl game. “It’s a huge honor to be a part of the Fiesta Bowl festivities,” Stewart said. “I’m definitely looking forward to coming out here – a part of our year when it’s normally freezing cold at home – where it’s nice. I’m very grateful and honored.”
