Tony Pays it Forward

October 16th, 2007

Lee Spencer over at FOX Sports has a pretty nice story about Tony Stewart Racing. You have to skip past the Michael Waltrip Racing stuff to get to the story. Here’s an excerpt:

Tony Stewart remembers what it was like begging and pleading for rides as he fought to move up the motorsports ranks.

Had it not been for USAC team owner Steve Lewis, who showcased Stewart and later Kasey Kahne’s talent in open wheel competition, their path to NASCAR could have been a longer and more winding road.

With those lessons in mind, Stewart has taken a page from Lewis’ book to pay it forward — motorsports style — with his Tony Stewart Racing team.

“I’m passionate about the sport,” Stewart said. “I’ve always been passionate about all of dirt racing but it seems like the World of Outlaws series and the USAC series are two that I really enjoy being a car owner in right now.”
