Tony in the Officials Booth?
Just a few tidbits I found around the net:
Haven’t heard about this anywhere else but a column in the Times Daily (Florence, AL)

And, by the way, while Tony is in the official booth this weekend during the Busch race, by invitation I might add, I bet everything is just so picture-perfect, for his benefit, of course.
From the Toledo Blade:
<Stewart, who visited Michigan International Speedway here yesterday to help promote the track’s upcoming Nextel Cup race, readily admitted that his blunt, frank and often razor-edged assessment of things gets him into more trouble than anything he does in heavy traffic at 180 mph.
I’m the poster child for doing stupid stuff in NASCAR,” said Stewart, who got himself in a deep vat of hot water recently for likening his sport to professional wrestling. “I do stupid stuff religiously.”
His most recent flare-up by Stewart prompted Nextel Cup series leader Jeff Gordon to call him “the Rosie O’Donnell of NASCAR,” while adding that Stewart “brings a flavor to the sport.”
“I would like to believe that I’m better looking than Rosie O’Donnell,” said Stewart.
“One of my biggest faults is I can’t say no, and I don’t know how to be politically correct,” Stewart said.
“If you ask me an honest question, you deserve to have an honest answer, whether it’s politically correct or not, whether it’s popular or not.”
Stewart, who can be affable, pleasant, brutally and painfully direct, coarse, confrontational, gracious and eloquent - all in the same sitting - said other drivers have frequently told him that his controversial words are often an accurate reflection of what they are thinking.
“Over the years, I’ve had drivers thank me for saying something, but everybody’s so scared of getting in trouble they won’t say it themselves,” Stewart said. “If you can’t say what’s on your mind, and be truthful about it, then why do it.”
