The Most Disappointed Man in Virginia
Denny Hamlin has to be the most disappointed man in Virgina. After leading 381 laps out of 400, a slow leak in his right front tire cost him the win. To add insult to injury, NASCAR penalized him 2 laps for intentionally stopping on the track to draw the caution. So instead of finishing 1st, he finished 24th. Of course one mans bad luck is anothers good luck. Tonight it was Clint Bowyer.
Bowyer took the lead when leader Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch got together, with Jr. getting the worst of the deal. Bowyer was able to keep the lead during the Green White Checkers as Mark Martin battle Busch but wasn’t able to get past him for 2nd. Tony was never really in contention for the win but finished a strong 4th to move up to 8th in the standings. Kyles 2nd place finish helpted him take over the top spot in the cup standings.
