HE SAID IT…
RICKY STENHOUSE ON THE NO. 21 TSR/CHEVROLET/MAXIM TEAM’S UP AND DOWN WEEKEND IN WISCONSIN:
“On Saturday night, we qualified really well and had a pretty good heat race. When we went to push off for the start of the feature, my car wasn’t running the way it should be. I pulled into the pits on the first lap and luckily we got a red flag on the track and didn’t lose any laps. The guys changed the battery and we went back out for the restart. I had to go to the tail of the field but we got a good jump and I started working my way up through traffic pretty quickly. The red flag on lap 18 was a huge help. I think I was running around ninth when it came out. On the restart we were up closer to the leaders and I was able to keep going forward. The yellow flag around lap 22 was really what helped us the most. On the restart I got a good jump and we were able to finish third.
On Sunday night, the track was a lot different than the night before. It was pretty dry slick. We didn’t qualify as well as we had on Saturday night and for the feature we started a little farther back than we would have liked. I got caught up in an accident on lap 19 and that was the end of our night. Any time you start farther back you run the risk of getting caught up and we just couldn’t miss it. We gained some points in the championship standings, though, and overall it was a pretty good weekend for TSR, Chevrolet and Bass Pro Shops.”
