Tucson, AZ – Rains and wet grounds have forced postponement of Saturday night’s “Copper on Dirt” USAC National races at USA Raceway in Tucson. All races have been rescheduled for Sunday February 21st.
Friday night Levi Jones, Bryan Clauson and Brad Sweet earned pole starting positions in the Copper on Dirt feature events by winning dashes in the action at USA Raceway. Jones, of Olney, IL will start from the pole in the 50-lap USAC Silver Crown feature. Brad Sweet, of Grass Valley, CA is on the pole for the 40-lap USAC Amsoil National/CRA Sprint race. Bryan Clauson, of Noblesville, IN will start on the pole of the 30-lap USAC Mopar National/Western Midget race.
A total of 90 race cars competed in friday’s preliminaries, with Sweet (Midgets), Bud Kaeding (Sprints) and Jones (Silver Crown) posting the fastest qualifying times. Midget heats were won by darren Hagen, Henry Clarke, Jerry Coons Jr. and Tanner Swanson. The Sprint heats went to Bud Kaeding, Clauson, Mike Spencer and Robert Ballou.
