HAMPTON, Ga. – What if NASCAR did away with qualifying and simply had a mini-race for the drivers outside the top 35 in owner points each week?
What if those 16-plus drivers took to the track for a few laps each week, battling head to head for a shot at making the main event? Then things like qualifying draw would cease to be a factor.
