HE SAID IT…PAUL MCMAHAN ON THE NO. 20 TEAM’S WEEKEND IN ARIZONA AND CALIFORNIA:
“At Manzanita, we had a really good car for the A-main. We’d moved up from 20th to 11th in about 11 laps and then a piece of the hood got stuck under the front nose wing. Instead of having down force I had a lot of lift on the front end. We ended up 17th instead of in the top-10 or top-five. At Perris on Saturday night, the car was a little tight in traffic. I was running third and Donny (Schatz) was behind us. I could hear him so I tried to change my line. I’d watched Mark Kinser win a lot of races at Perris using the middle line so I went for it. It didn’t work and I couldn’t get back down to the bottom for a few laps. A couple of cars got by me and we ended up sixth. The guys will go back to the shop this week to get ready for Charlotte and I’m going to run the 360 Short Track Nationals. Hopefully I’ll get a win this weekend and it will give me some momentum heading into next week’s finale. I’d like to put Bass Pro Shops and Chevrolet back in the winner’s circle one more time this year.”
