INDIANAPOLIS — Tracy Hines continues to lead the USAC Mopar National Midget standings as the series prepares for the September 12 “Toyota Challenge” finale at O’Reilly Raceway Park. The series also competes September 13 at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway.

Cole Whitt of Alpine, Calif. trails Hines by only 65 points after he led all 30 laps to win Friday night’s 7th Mid-State Equipment “Sue Thiel Memorial Classic” Mopar National Midget race at the Dodge County Fairgrounds. Whitt withstood repeated challenges from Brady Bacon to win the race on the 1/2-mile dirt oval in his Red Bull/MMI Bullet/Esslinger Ford.

Bacon finished second ahead of Levi Jones, Hines and Darren Hagen.

Brady Loyet, who flipped during qualifications at Dodge County, was taken to Beaver Dam Memorial Hospital for observation, then released.
