About 3,000 fans have bought tickets to the Aug. 21-22 testing featuring Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Iowa Speedway in Newton, the track’s director of media relations Mike Beecher said today.

Charging for tickets to testing is unique.

When asked last week, Kelly Hale, the manager of communications at Kansas Speedway said she’d never heard of it happening.

Beecher said ticket sales, which began Monday, are still solid.

“It really shows the broad fan support for Dale Earnhardt Jr.,” Beecher said.

Single-day tickets for the testing cost $20 and a two-day ticket is $30. Children 12 and younger accompanied by a paying adult gain entrance for free.

Tickets are available at the track ticket office, or by calling (641) 791-8100.

$20 to watch testing? They got it bad.

It is good business though for the track. Why not bring in an extra $60 grand since you have to be there anyhow.
