Delay on Nationwide Penalties Doesn’t Bode Well for Joe Gibbs Racing

August 19th, 2008

Fox Sports is reporting the NASCAR will wait another day before issuing penalties against Joe Gibbs Racing’s Nationwide Series teams, who were caught trying to cheat during a postrace test last weekend.

The teams of Gibbs’ No. 18 and No. 20 Toyotas deliberately attempted to mask the true horsepower in their engines after Saturday’s race at Michigan International Speedway.

Since NASCAR normally hands out penalties on Tuesday, the fact that they are waiting an extra day makes me think that when they do come out, they are going to be big.  I’m talking Jack “the whiner” Roush will be dancing around his desk big.

Watch for some huge points hits, really large dollar amounts, and don’t be surprised if crew chiefs Jason Ratcliffe (18) and Dave Rogers (20) and suspended for the last 10 races of the year.

Keep your eyes out for a few firings at JGR also as Joe and J.D. arent’ going to allow this kind of cheating in their operation.

Hopefully Tony is going to bring this kind of integrity to Stewart-Haas Racing.
