25th Annual Kings Royal Postponed by Rain Until Sunday

Rossburg, OH — Heavy storms postponed the 25th Annual Kings Royal for the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at the famed Eldora Speedway until Sunday evening. With the first session of hot laps on the track, the skies opened and the rains came, forcing officials to postpone the event by a day.

A strong field of 39 cars was checked into the pit area for the event, which was scheduled to have five eight-lap heat races, with the Top-Three finishers in each heat transferring into the A-Feature, with each of the winners of the five heats to take part in the Crane Cams Dash.

A number of former Kings Royal winners were honored on Saturday prior to the scheduled event as part of the 25th Annual Kings Royal celebration. Among the drivers in attendance were: three-time Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Sammy Swindell, Hall of Famer Doug Wolfgang, Bobby Davis Jr., Don Kreitz Jr. and Dale Blaney.

Current World of Outlaws drivers that were honored for their wins in the Kings Royal included: 20-time series champion Steve Kinser, who has six career Kings Royal wins, three-time winner Jac Haudenschild, two-time winner Joey Saldana, two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz and Jason Sides.

A complete racing event is scheduled for Sunday, beginning with hot laps, time trials, heat races, the Crane Cams Dash, consolation races and the 40-lap A-Feature that will pay the winner $50,000.Racing is set for 6:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday night in the 25th Annual Kings Royal.

  1. what happened with Steve Kinser during qualifying. was it over Schats gettin a 3rd lap?
