Brandon, SD – After Mother Nature was victorious in the World of Outlaws first scheduled event of the season at Huset’s Speedway in South Dakota back in early May, the series returns to the high-banked bullring on Friday, July 3 to kick off the Holiday weekend with a full night of racing. The event will be the first of six consecutive races on tracks 3/8-mile or smaller as the schedule really picks up in the next week and a half. Richmond – Brian Tyler of Parma, Mich. caught leader Bobby East in turn three on the 87th lap of Saturday night’s “James River Grounds 100” USAC K & N Silver Crown race at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, then led the final 14 laps to win the 100-lap race on the 3/4-mile paved oval. Richmond, VA – Bobby Santos III of Franklin, Mass. continued his “hot streak” Friday night at Richmond International Raceway, winning the “Rotondo Weirich Showdown” USAC National Sprint race at the 3/4-mile paved oval.
Santos, who won last week’s USAC Sprint race at Kalamazoo, Mich. and USAC Midget race at Newton, Iowa, came from 13th starting position to fifth in the first 30 laps, then following a 10-minute halfway halt, resumed his charge to the front in his Santos Motor Sports Beast/Gaerte.
He took fourth on lap 31, third on lap 33 and second on lap 43, then passed leader Brad Sweet in turns three and four on lap 44. From there, his only late-race challenge came from Darren Hagen, who finished second, ahead of Sweet, Cole
