INDIANAPOLIS – Chevrolet’s all-new Midget racing engine was unveiled today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by GM representatives and United States Auto Club (USAC) team owner Tony Stewart. Designed by GM Racing specifically for the USAC National Midget Car Series, the new purpose-built, four-cylinder Chevrolet racing engine will initially power Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) drivers Tracy Hines and Levi Jones in upcoming events. The new Chevy Midget engine will be available to all USAC competitors through independent engine builders.
“One year ago, Chevrolet announced its sponsorship of Tony Stewart Racing in open-wheel competition,” said Chevrolet general manager Ed Peper. “Now Chevrolet has taken the next step by creating an all-new racing engine for this popular grassroots racing series. HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – There are very few race tracks that the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series visits where Tony Stewart doesn’t have a win. In fact, there’s only two of them – Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.
Coming into the 2008 season, that number was double, as Stewart also hadn’t won at either Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., or Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. But thanks to a stout No. 20 Toyota prepared by Joe Gibbs Racing’s Nationwide Series crew chief Dave Rogers, Stewart whipped the field at Fontana and again at Talladega to effectively scratch the two tracks off his “to-do” list.
And after opening the 2008 Nationwide Series season with back-to-back wins at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Fontana, Stewart came

For die-hard NASCAR fans, it was hard to believe that an event in racing’s heartland – on NASCAR’s first and oldest superspeedway no less – could be jettisoned to a land where David Hasselhoff is better known for his driving prowess than David Pearson.
Darlington Raceway was being forsaken for something bigger and better, and when its lone remaining date was placed on Saturday night of the hallowed Mother’s Day weekend, obituaries for the 1.366-mile oval were already being drafted.
But a funny thing happened. Lights were installed, and instead of roasting in late-summer mugginess, fans were treated to a crisp and

SHINNSTON, WV – Josh Richards proved his adaptive abilities last Thursday night (May 1) when he made a head-turning DIRTcar big-block Modified debut at Virginia Motor Speedway.
The 20-year-old dirt Late Model star known as ‘Kid Rocket’ finished only 19th in the 60-lap Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series ‘Paul Sawyer Memorial’ event, but his qualifying effort and early performance in the feature showed how quickly he was able to make the transition to the open-wheel machine.
Josh’s special appearance behind the wheel of DIRTcar big-block Modified legend Brett Hearn’s backup Madsen Motorsports No. 20 highlighted a busy stretch of racing for the Shinnston, W.Va., product. He also drove the Ernie Davis-owned Rocket No. 25 dirt Late Model to a fifth-place finish in the division’s 40-lap companion event
